Elon works with couples who want to understand not only what they keep fighting about, but why their efforts to reach each other so often seem to miss. Often, both partners care deeply about the relationship and are genuinely trying—yet attempts at closeness somehow turn into criticism, withdrawal, defensiveness, or disappointment. Therapy can help when those moments gradually become patterns, as each partner reacts to the other in ways that make sense individually but leave both feeling farther apart.
Elon helps couples slow those moments down and understand what is happening underneath them: what each partner is trying to communicate, protect, or reach for, why those efforts sometimes fail to land, and how earlier experiences may shape what each partner expects when connection feels uncertain. Sessions are active and relational. Rather than simply talking about the relationship, couples will often work directly with one another in the room, with Elon helping each partner say more clearly what they are feeling or needing, helping the other partner hear it differently, and stepping in when familiar patterns begin to take over. The aim is not only better communication, but a different experience of understanding and being understood by one another.
Areas of Particular Interest
Communication, recurring conflict, and relationship patterns
Physical and sexual intimacy, including differences in desire, sexual anxiety, and performance concerns
Premarital work, separation, divorce, and other relationship transitions
Doctors, lawyers, executives, academics, and other high-achieving professionals and their partners
Meaning, values, spirituality, and mindfulness in relationships
Elon’s work with professionals is informed by his earlier career as an attorney and law professor, and by an understanding that strengths such as analysis, independence, persistence, and control do not always translate neatly into intimate relationships. When relevant, mindfulness and existential approaches can also help couples consider larger questions about what matters to them and the life they want to build together.
